Microstructural observation and mechanical properties behavior of Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>/Al6061 nanocomposite fabricated by stir casting process

Abstract Aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles are capable of improving the material characteristics if reinforced to soft and low strength material. The major limitation in utilization Al alloy 6061 medium heavy stress applications such as automobile, defense, transportations, aerospace is hardness strength. In order overcome deficiency Al6061, nano-Al Al6061 matrix nanocomposite (AMNC) was successfully fabricated on machinated aluminum stir casting furnace. 2,4,6 8 wt.% were effect mechanical microstructure behavior investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), hardness, tensile testing methods. Higher magnification FESEM micrographs revealed that reinforcement leads considerable grain refinement uniform distribution with less porosity. properties results showed enhancement (by 130%), 156%), yield 360%) over base Al6061. It observed nano size particles, quantity reinforcement, process effective factors enhancement.
